Lunch: Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Tuna Melt, Deli Sandwich with Cheese, Chicken Caesar Salad with Roll, Baked Sweet Potato, Tossed Salad, Veggies & Dip, Cupped Fruit, Fresh Fruit, and Milk

Congratulations to the following members of the cross country team who will be moving on to the region cross country meet next week at Giles County: Hannah Murphy, Harry Caldwell, Everette Phelps, and Fox Jackson.

FCCLA Announcements:

o    Starting November 3rd-14th FCCLA will be collecting canned goods for the Virginian Women’s Shelter. This will be a Raider Room competition. Winning Raider Room will receive a Delicious Waffle Breakfast Bar.
o    FCCLA will be hosting a movie night for paid members only on November 11th. Sigh-up November 3rd- 7th if you want to be part of the fun.
o    There will be a Mandatory FCCLA meeting on November 4th

Lunch: Mushroom Swiss Burger on Bun, Cheesy Scrambled Eggs & Toast, Deli Sandwich with Cheese, Tuna Salad with Roll, Fries, Tossed Salad, Veggies & Dip, Cupped Fruit, Fresh Fruit, and Milk

The first Scholastic Bowl Competition meet will be Thursday, November 13 here at ACHS.  All members of the Scholastic Bowl team need to see Mr. Servis about the practice schedule.  The team will have practice tomorrow from 3:30 to 4:30 and Friday from 3:30 to 4:30. 

The ACHS Raiders Relay for Life team will be selling links to create a giant paper link chain.  Each link only costs 50 cents and is in memory of Mrs. McRae, the mother of three of your fellow Raiders.  Mrs. McRae passed away in August after a 10 year battle with cancer.  All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. McRae.  If we raise the following amount, the administrators have agreed to:

o    $250 - Mr. Moreno will dress as a “pink chicken”
o    $500 - Mr. Dodge will perform a choreographed dance in front of each lunch
o    $750 - Students will duct tape Mr. Read to the wall
o    $1,000 - Mrs. Eagle will spend the night on the roof
o    The links will be on sale during all 3 lunch shifts Wed (10/29) – Thur (11/6).  The paper link chain will be displayed and a check will be presented at the last home football game on Nov 7th

Any senior wanting to purchase a Senior Class T-Shirt can see Mrs. Dalton from now until October 31st. You can purchase one design for $15 or both designs for $25.

Congratulations to the Appomattox Raider Golf Team for winning the 2014 VHSL Group 2A State Championship

 

SAT Testing @ ACHS
The ACT test will be given @ACHS on Saturday, November 8, 2014.  The test will begin shortly after 8:00 am 
Arrive by 7:45 am.  The doors will be unlocked at 7:30 am and re-locked promptly by 8:00 am.  If you arrive after the doors are locked, you will not be allowed entrance.
You must present your admission ticket and a photo ID.  This can be a driver’s license, a learner’s permit, a current swipe card or a SAT Student ID (created by guidance counselor).  The ID MUST be an original and MUST have a recognizable picture.  Your first/last names must match the name presented on the admission ticket (which must match the master roster) or you will be denied entrance.
You should bring a calculator to use on the math portion of the test as long as it is on the approved list.  (see list)
Four function calculators will be made available to those without calculators.
Bring #2 pencils….not mechanical pencils.
If you have any questions regarding what is allowed, see Mrs. Fahrman in Room 210.

 

 
Free Program for 10th Grade Students
Must complete online modules covering NASA aircraft, balloon, and rocket missions launched or managed at Wallops Flight Facility
Online course runs from December 2014 through March 2015.
Highly successful students will be selected for a week-long Summer Academy at NASA Wallops Flight Facility (Chincoteague, VA)

Athletic Passes 2014-2015
The following athletic passes are offered for purchase this year.  Students must purchase a pass for $25 which will allow them entrance to all home athletic events.  (Note: school IDs will not be used as passes)
·          ACPS Student Pass - $25 (year)
·          Family Year
o    $175 - up to 4 household members
o    $25 for each additional member
·          Individual Year - $75
·          Family Season
o    $100 - up to 4 household members
o    $25 for each additional member
·          Individual Season - $40
·          Senior Citizen – Complimentary (62 and older)
